Laura was born in Reykjavik, Iceland on July 19, 1929. Her love for art started
at a very early age. She has studied at the Icelandic Institute of Art and with
sculptor, Asmudnur Sveinsson. She has been exhibiting her art in shows since
the 1950’s, beginning in the studio of Gudmundur Fra Middal and his
son, Einar Gudmundsson in Iceland.
Laura has had exhibits in both Europe and the United States. Her American
Studies took her to Georgian Court College and Ocean County College, where she
studied pottery. Now, Laura teaches private and group classes in a variety of
techniques, including: oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, egg tempera as well as
ceramics and sculpture.
Laura most recent one woman shows were at the Manchester Branch of the Ocean
County Library and 1st Choice home Care in Toms River, New Jersey. She has also
had private showings and won numerous awards for her art at exhibits in Lakewood
and Shrewsbury, New Jersey and in Hope, PA. She took second prize for her
sculpture, “Angst” from Ocean County College.
When Laura was asked what she enjoys most about her work, she said, “it is not
only visually gratifying, but also spiritually satisfying. I don’t get peace until I put
my insights of life and my surroundings on canvass or paper.”
Laura lives in Crestwood Village where she still instructs students in all forms of
her art.

buttercup flower. Soley is the resident"Muse" and constant
companion to the Whiting resident and member of the Crestwood

just would not be ignored.
